Transformation

The piece portrays the transformation of water into wine, which not only alludes to the first miracle that Jesus performed when He was on this earth but also symbolizes the transformation of our lives as believers in Christ. The water of eternal life flows from Jesus’ hand, since He freely gives the water of everlasting life, and whoever drinks of the water Jesus gives will never thirst (John 4:14). In this piece, the water that flows from Jesus’ hand turns into wine, the latter symbolizing His very blood. Jesus told His disciples at the Last Supper: “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you” (Luke 22:20).

The transformed wine is caught inside a cup held by eagerly receiving hands. We should be eager to receive
and tell others about the free gift of salvation only made possible by Jesus’ shed blood. Further, we are called vessels, and if we cleanse ourselves and are useful for God’s kingdom, we will be vessels of honor prepared for every good work (2 Timothy 2:20-21). Thus, the wine represents the redemption we obtain through Jesus’ blood, as written in Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:20, 1 Peter 18:19, 1 John 1:7, and Revelation 1:5. Let us wake up every day and be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 2:12)!

The Greatest Pearl

Portrays how God holds the earth as a precious pearl inside an oyster shell. How glorious is God’s redemption of the Gentile Church and Jesus likening the Church to a pearl of great price: “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it” (Matthew 13:45-46). Even though non-Jews are not part of Abraham’s bloodline and promised inheritance (Genesis 17), God still made a way for non-Jews to inherit the Kingdom of God. What a beautiful picture of redemption! How blessed we are that Jesus compares us to a valuable and precious commodity that is worth the selling of everything! What an awesome Redeemer we have!

Wonder

The piece depicts the deep and unfathomable mysteries of God contained within His hands. How marvelous are the workings of God, more complex and wonderful than we could ever imagine! How glorious it is that our Creator, Father, and Redeemer holds all creation in His hand: “In whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?” (Job 12:10). Let us remember that we may find safety and protection in His hand: “You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your right hand upholds me; And Your gentleness makes me great” (Psalm 18:35). Let us also remember that our lives and
works are forever kept in His hands: “. . . the righteous and the wise and their works are in the hand of God”
(Ecclesiastes 9:1). May we also be like little children, always curious and desiring to know more about God,
for Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by
no means enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). Until we see our great Redeemer face to face, may
we never grow weary and seeking and pondering the wonders of God!

Two Trees

At the forefront, the piece depicts the dichotomy of life and death. On a deeper level, Two Trees should remind us of some key things. First, every choice we make has a consequence of life or death. God placed both the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden (Genesis 2:9). Though God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve ate from the tree that resulted in sin and death. Similarly, we should remember that whatever we do either builds God’s kingdom or Satan’s; therefore, we should “. . . walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). What a great responsibility we carry. . .
But . . . God!

This piece should also bring to our attention and memory that Jesus has redeemed us! We were once bound to sin and death, but upon putting our faith in Jesus as our Savior, our old sinful selves have been “...crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin” (Romans 6:6). Jesus has redeemed us from death to life, as written in Colossians 2:13-14: “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.” Let us remember and rejoice that “. . . if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Let us not only live wisely and cautiously, but let us also rejoice in our redemption! Hallelujah!

Roar of the Lion

The piece depicts the powerful Word of God. Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5) and is the Word of God (John 1:14). The Word of God, embodied in the person of Jesus, is living, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). May we remember that even God exalts His Word above His own name (Psalm 138:2). How wonderful to realize that just a simple
declaration of our faith in Jesus allows us to be redeemed from sin! When our wonderful Savior calls to our hearts, let us respond with adoration, praise and a willing heart to serve the awesome Word of God, the marvelous Lion of the tribe of Judah!

Roots

This piece depicts how God is so wonderfully at the root of everything. There is only so much that we can observe in this natural realm, but behind and beneath all things is our wonderful Creator. He truly holds all creation in His hands. Amid our free will, He is always in control and His sovereignty always reigns! The roots depicted in this piece also allude to our being rooted in the love and fullness of Christ, just as Paul writes in Ephesians 3:17-19 and Colossians 2:6-7.

Ephesians 3:17-19: “that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Colossians 2:6-7: “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built
up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”

When our circumstances seem bleak or hopeless, let us remember that God is at the root of everything and
that He can redeem our situation, for He desires that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Hallelujah!
