love local community Opportunities

We believe that God has sovereignly placed each one of us in our respective communities to express His love and compassion to those who surround us every day. This is true today, now more than ever. Please take a look at the opportunities available to help our community right now. Check back often as we will update this list regularly:

Face Mask Donations

Face Masks are needed for the re-opening of Deacon's Closet. Please drop off your handmade masks at the Deacons' Closet at the Annex on Mon, Wed or Fri from 11am-1pm.  If you are unable to leave your home, email Carol wissolik@comcast.net to arrange a pickup.

Love Local COVID-19 Care
In order to respond quickly to emergency needs in the community, we have created a fund for donations, which we will use to: give to restaurant workers who are out of work/been laid off, help local food banks restock their shelves, provide meals for medical workers serving on the frontline, etc. Click the link to make a donation. To date over $20,000 has been donated and $16,000 has been given to the following organizations:

  • Foolish Craig's

  • Casa de Dios Shalom

  • Boulder County Aids Project Food Pantry

  • Ramble on Pearl

  • Haircuts for Humans/Truman Barber Shop

  • Feed the Frontline

  • Love Justice International

  • Home of Hope

  • Emergency Family Assistance Association

  • Harvest of Hope Food Pantry

  • Boulder Shelter for the Homeless

  • Wipe Every Tear

Deacons' Closet

Our church Deacons’ Closet continues to safely support community members in need. Here is a list of the current Deacons' Closet needs:

Clothing needs:

  • Jeans–primarily men’s jeans, clean and in decent condition. Most needed sizes are 32, 34, 36.

  • Men’s underwear

  • Men’s pullover shirts

  • Shoes–usable with no holes or tears. All sizes but particularly men’s larger sizes.

Hygiene products:

  • Body Wash

  • Shampoo

  • Feminine products

  • Deodorant

  • Towels–clean and gently used.

Consider ordering items online at smile.amazon.com. Select First Presbyterian Church, Boulder as the charity you wish to support. Email Carol, wissolik@comcast.net, if you have a pick up for the Deacons’ Closet. Do not deliver supplies to the church. A team member will come to you  and pick up from your “front porch.”

Attention Homes

Prepare or order a meal for up to 5–30 local youth and deliver to their north or south Boulder locations. Meal prep typically runs $50 or more. A reminder email will be sent a few days in advance of your delivery date to confirm any new dietary restrictions and the number of residents. Donations of non perishables and paper/cleaning products are also a need. Contact Mo Shirley at 303.952.4516, mshirley@attentionhomes.org with questions.

Ramble on Pearl

Ramble on Pearl was founded to provide pathways to purpose and community for adults with developmental disabilities. We recognized that long-term, independent employment was a means for these incredible individuals to feel a sense of purpose and to be integrated into the greater community. Now with shelter-in-place mandates, our apprentices are home again, feeling isolated, and with varying levels of understanding why. Here are three simple ways you can support our Ramblers:

  • Donate. A $50 gift will fund a mentorship session with one our graduates. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit–all contributions are tax-deductible.

  • Retail Therapy. Shop with purpose by emailing Connie or Bozica to schedule a virtual shopping trip through our store. A $100 purchase will score you some great new tops for your next video conference while supporting our facilitated online hangouts at the same time. Plus, we offer free shipping and local delivery!

  • Spread the word. We know this crisis is impacting many individuals and organizations. If you're not in a position to support us financially, share our story with your network and get the word out to those looking to support local nonprofits and local small businesses–we're both!

Community Food Share

Volunteer at the Community Food Share warehouse, 650 S. Taylor Avenue, Louisville, to sort food products, restock shelves, repackage food and help to maintain a clean facility.

Shifts are 2–3 hours M–F with morning and afternoon shifts. Volunteers must be 10 years of age and up (volunteers 15 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult).

Get started by creating an account through the CFS volunteer portal. Once you have created an account, select a day and time to volunteer individually or as a family.

Donate Blood

Blood donations are still needed in the midst of this pandemic. You can donate blood in Boulder at Vitalant which is located at 3113 28th St. Learn more about donating blood or schedule an appointment

Community Table Kitchen

Order some delicious brownies made by Community Table Kitchen which is an enterprise of Bridge House as part of the Bridge House Ready to Work Program. Brownies can be ordered in quantities of 4 to 30 or more and shipped to arrive on your selected date. Ship to multiple addresses on one order. By placing your brownie order, you are supporting the workers at Community Table Kitchen and letting friends, family, and coworkers know you are thinking of them.

Bonus idea: Consider treating our local healthcare workers and first responders with a thank you gift of delicious brownies!

The Crossing of Denver Rescue Mission

Due to COVID-19 many of our families and kids at The Crossing of Denver Rescue Mission are short on NEW supplies as well as educational and enjoyable activities for them to do while schooling remotely. Here’s a great way you can help bless the kids and their families in our STAR program during this difficult time! We are looking for NEW supplies, activities and games, such as:

  • Puzzles for all different ages (including adults)

  • Cards

  • Board games

  • Crayons

  • Colored paper

  • Markers

NEW items should be shipped directly to The Crossing so the kids can enjoy them right away! Most items can be found on Amazon although a delay may take place due to shortages.
