Grace Commons Church partners with individuals and organizations around the globe. Some work from the US and support people and ministries abroad, while others work in remote and often difficult places themselves. Most of our global partners have long-standing connections with our congregation. We are so pleased to be able to support those who are spreading the good news of the gospel in countries on the continents of Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. Our partners appreciate your prayers and enjoy meeting First Pres congregants when they are in town.
Ian and Teri Rutter
Ian was born and raised in England; he is a British citizen. Teri grew up in Illinois. They met in France and have lived there for over 30 years serving with Cru.
Europe today faces the double challenge of militant secularism on one hand and Islamic fundamentalism on the other. Their vision is to reach leaders - people who can influence others and make a difference in their world. They work with believers from across denominational lines, encouraging them in their faith and assisting them in their witness to the local community. They are also in partnership with another mission called Alongside Ministries International. Through this partnership, Ian and Teri are serving as European Directors, mentoring younger missionaries who serve in several countries and work alongside national leaders.
Holly Tompkins serves with World Gospel Outreach in a subtropical mountain rainforest in Honduras. She lives and serves at Rancho Ebenezer: a permanent "foster home" community for abused, abandoned and neglected children, through graduation. Holly has served for 4 years, living within this community of Hondurans and other American missionaries. As a registered nurse, she provides all health care for approximately 85 people. She developed a preventative care program for staff and children including dental care checkups every 6 months.
For 10 weeks of the year, Holly is an assistant team leader for the visiting short term mission teams. She spends the week with teams to encourage, disciple, and translate during their community projects. She gets to pray with the local families and befriend them during the community outreach.
David and Vreni Greenlee
David and Vreni Greenlee have served with Operation Mobilization (OM) for over 40 years: with OM’s ships, then 20 years in Europe, and since 2015 at OM’s Atlanta offices. Their First Pres links go back to 1979-81 when David was in grad school and led the University Class ministry (1980-81).
David’s role involves ministry assessment, research, and writing to help OM leaders keep on track toward our vision of “vibrant communities of Jesus followers among the least reached.”
The Greenlees also serve as OM USA Seniors Liaison, helping OM honor career missionaries in or approaching the “senior years.”

Darv & Carol Smith
Longtime members of First Pres Boulder, the Smiths founded the Addictive Behavior Counseling School with University of the Nations in 1989, as a part of Youth with a Mission. Since 1989 they have led over 50 ABC schools in 11 countries with students from over 60 nations. The mission of ABCS is to train students to minister healing and hope to addicted people globally. They both teach and mentor the staff of these schools in person and online. They travel extensively to take part as faculty and their next trip will be in Cambodia in January 2018. It has been exciting to see students and staff transformed by God. To give a financial gift for this ministry, give to Addictive Behavior Ministries, International.
Mike & Lorna Ward
The Wards have spent many years as Bible translators with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
In 1983 Lorna and Mike were assigned as a translation team for the Quioquitani Zapotec people of Oaxaca, Mexico. Along with their Zapotec co-workers, they completed a translation of the New Testament, which was published in the year 2000. Until 2004, they created literacy materials, distributed the New Testaments in the village area, completed the audio recording and dubbed the Luke video into Zapotec. Mike then served as the Mexico Branch Translation Coordinator for 6 years. For the past 9 years, Mike has been the Publications Coordinator. It is his responsibility to shepherd translated New Testaments, Bibles and Scripture portions through the publications process. He acts as a liaison between the translators, translation consultants, typesetters, manuscript editors, publishers, funders and printers. Lorna serves as the Assistant to the Director of Personnel.
