Biblical Justice Ministry

“And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” —Micah 6:8

At Grace Commons Church, we believe every person is created in the image of God. So, we are deeply troubled by injustices in the world today. We desire to be part of ongoing discussions and prayer calling out injustice in the world, in our country and even in our local history. We pray that Grace Commons and the larger Church would follow Christ’s command to “love our neighbor” (Matthew 22:39) and would indeed be “a house of prayer for all nations.” (Isaiah 56:7)

Justice is central to the Kingdom of God and a major theme in the Bible. Watch this six minute video from the Bible Project describing biblical justice.

Ministry Mission

Biblical Justice Ministry (BJM) seeks to be a ministry avenue for the mission and vision of Grace Commons Church to show the love of Jesus with regard to matters of biblical justice.

Core Truths

  1. The Bible is devoted to justice from first to last, Genesis to Revelation. Justice for the poor and marginalized is central to the Scripture’s message.
  2. Every human being regardless of race, ethnicity or gender, is created in the image of God and is equally valued by God.
  3. To “do justice” means to live in a way that generates a strong community where all people can flourish.
  4. A core principle of God’s message throughout the bible is for Christians to stand against injustice, including racism.
  5. Racism is present in our society and is a sin against God because it is a denial of the biblical principle that all people are: created in the image of God, equally sinful, and saved only by the grace of God.

Join our team of covenant partners who meet monthly to explore ways each of us can be pointing to Jesus as we, individually or corporately, work towards God’s justice among all people groups or ethne.
