Sermon-Based Small Group Questions
Nov 1, 2026 | Fix Your Eyes on Jesus | Hebrews 12:1–3
Ice Breaker
If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive (other than Jesus), who would it be and why?
These questions are meant to guide your Home Circle conversations. Feel free to discuss as few or as many as your group would like.
1. LOOK BACKWARD — Remembering the Faithful
Hebrews 12 reminds us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses—people whose lives testify to God’s faithfulness.
Who has been a significant witness of faith in your life?
What did their example teach you about trusting God, especially through difficult circumstances?
2. LOOK AROUND — Where Are Your Eyes Fixed?
In Matthew 14, Peter walked on water while trusting Jesus, but became afraid when his attention shifted to the wind and waves.
What circumstances, fears, or distractions most often pull your attention away from Jesus?
How do you recognize when your focus has shifted?
3. RUNNING OUR RACE — Trusting God’s Faithfulness
Hebrews 12 calls us to run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Sometimes that means trusting God without knowing how our circumstances will turn out.
Where in your life are you currently being challenged to persevere?
What difference does it make to remember that your security rests in Jesus rather than
in your circumstances?
4. FIXING OUR EYES — Putting Faith into Practice
The sermon suggested three practical ways to cultivate a life focused on Jesus: intention, habit formation, and accountability.
What is one small, intentional habit you could begin or strengthen this week to keep Jesus before your mind?
How might someone in your life help encourage you in that commitment?
5. LOOK FORWARD — Living in Light of Eternity
Hebrews 12 reminds us that Jesus endured the cross “for the joy set before him.” Revelation 21 promises a day when God will wipe away every tear and death will be no more.
How does the promise of resurrection and eternal life with Christ change the way you face suffering, grief, or uncertainty today?
If you truly lived with that future hope in view, what might change about how you live now?
Closing Reflection and Prayer
Invite each person to name one circumstance that has been capturing their attention and one practical way they want to turn their eyes toward Jesus this week.
Close by praying for perseverance, renewed trust in God’s faithfulness, and the hope of Christ’s resurrection.
