Doorways Class Levels

Every class level offers students the opportunity for reading, writing, and conversation to reinforce new English language skills.

Providing international women an opportunity to engage in instruction in conversational English in a caring and nurturing environment.

Literacy

Students with no English language skills are introduced to the language.

Level One

Students develop simple sentences using verbs and common everyday phrases.

Level Two

Students gain confidence using short sentences in their oral expression and are exposed to the basics of English grammar.

Level Three

Students expand their knowledge of grammar concepts focusing on parts of speech and verb tenses and exhibit growth in clarity of oral language.

Level Four

Students continue to develop use of grammar, and conversation becomes clearer, more concise and fluid.

Level Five

Students concentrate on using more advanced grammar concepts in written and oral expression.

Level Six

Students read and discuss newspaper articles and novels. They progress in their understanding and use of idioms.
